Peru is a country in South America, situated on the western side of that continent, facing the South Pacific Ocean and straddling part of the Andes mountain range that runs the length of South America. The Peruvian territory is located on the American Continent, in the Southern hemisphere and is included within the Southern hemisphere’s intertropical zone; that is, between the two main parallels which are the Equatorial Line and the Tropic of Capricorn.
With an area of 1,285,215 square km, Peru is the third-largest country in South America after Brazil and Argentina.
Peru is bordered by Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil and Bolivia to the east, and Chile to the south. Is a country that has a diversity and wealth little common in the world. INCA TRAIL PACKAGES TOURS : The Inca road system was the most extensive and advanced transportation system in pre-Columbian South America. The network was based on two north-south roads with numerous branches. The best known portion of the road system is the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Part of the road network was built by cultures that precede the Inca Empire notably the Wari culture.
The most important Inca road was the Camino Real (Royal Road), as it is known in Spanish, with a length of 5,200 kilometres (3,200 mi). It began in Quito, Ecuador, passed through Cusco, and ended in what is now Tucumán, Argentina.
